About this award

The Federal Transit Administration awarded Riverside Transit Agency $7.31 million on July 27, 2026, under the Federal Transit Formula Grants program (CFDA 20.507) to purchase five 40-foot replacement revenue buses for fixed-route transportation services throughout Western Riverside County.

The funding supports replacement of compressed natural gas revenue buses that have reached or will reach their 12-year useful life and/or 500,000-mile threshold. RTA's service area is the second largest in the nation and vehicles typically exhaust mileage before years of service. The new heavy-duty buses will maintain the agency's fleet in a state of good repair and enable continued safe transportation for residents and workers across Riverside, Orange, and San Bernardino counties. Retired buses will be disposed of in accordance with federal regulations.

The award obligates $7.31 million with a period of performance extending through January 1, 2030. No sub-recipients are identified for this award. Place of performance is California.
