The Department of Housing and Urban Development Public and Indian Housing Office awarded Los Angeles County Development Authority (LACDA) $1,410,202 under the Public Housing Operating Fund (CFDA 14.850) on January 1, 2026.
LACDA uses operating fund grants to support day-to-day operational expenses of public housing, including management and operations, routine and preventative maintenance, anti-crime and security activities, energy costs, resident supportive services, insurance, and administrative costs required under the Housing Act and program regulations. The funding also supports operating costs for privately owned public housing units within mixed-finance projects and debt service obligations.
The award period runs from January 1, 2026 through December 31, 2030, with place of performance in Alhambra, California. The Public Housing Operating Fund is a formula grant program providing operating subsidies to housing authorities nationwide to assist in funding operating and maintenance expenses for their dwellings in accordance with Section 9 of the U.S. Housing Act of 1937, as amended. Subsidies are required to help maintain services and provide minimum operating reserves. LACDA serves as a major regional recipient of HUD assistance, with a federal grant portfolio concentrated on homelessness services, public housing operations and modernization, and affordable housing development across Los Angeles County.
