This $5,894,000 Clean Water State Revolving Fund (CWSRF) formula grant, awarded by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) on October 1, 2023, will capitalize the Missouri Department of Natural Resources' (MODNR) CWSRF program. The primary purpose is to address emerging contaminants in water systems, such as substances from personal care products, pharmaceuticals, industrial chemicals, and microplastics. The grant funds will be used to provide subawards to numerous subrecipients for eligible activities under Section 603(c) of the Clean Water Act, with a focus on projects that address emerging contaminants. The expected outcomes are to establish and maintain an effective, self-sustaining CWSRF program to improve and protect water quality and public health for citizens across Missouri.
