About this award
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration awarded the Georgia Department of Public Safety $162,309.20 on October 1, 2025, under the Section 405(H) Preventing Roadside Deaths Countermeasures Grant, a formula grant component of the National Priority Safety Programs (CFDA 20.616).
The funding supports Georgia's state highway safety office in implementing programs to prevent death and injury from crashes involving motor vehicles striking other vehicles and individuals stopped at the roadside. Georgia qualifies for this award under statutory apportionment formulas by having adopted and implemented effective roadside death prevention countermeasures detailed in its approved triennial highway safety plan and annual grant application. The award obligates $162,309.20 for the performance period October 1, 2025, through September 30, 2029, with place of performance in Atlanta, Georgia.
The National Priority Safety Programs formula grant is designed to encourage states to address highway safety priorities identified by Congress, including occupant protection, traffic safety information system improvements, impaired driving countermeasures, distracted driving, motorcyclist safety, nonmotorized safety, and driver and officer safety education. States submit annual grant applications by August 1 each year; NHTSA reviews and approves applications within up to 60 days. Federal reimbursement flows through vouchers covering documented costs incurred. Georgia's Department of Public Safety, the state's designated highway safety office, serves as the recipient and implements the countermeasure strategies funded under this award.
