About this award

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration awarded the Arkansas State Police $282,116.84 on October 1, 2025, under the Section 405(D) Alcohol-Ignition Interlock Grant program (CFDA 20.616, National Priority Safety Programs), obligated through September 30, 2029, to support impaired driving countermeasures in Arkansas.

Qualifying states with conforming alcohol-ignition interlock laws may use 405(D) funding for adoption and enforcement of mandatory alcohol-ignition interlock laws and 24/7 sobriety programs, allocated through statutory apportionment formula.

Performance is based in Little Rock, Arkansas. The Arkansas State Police administered the award and passed funds to four sub-recipients: Speakup About Drugs performed court monitoring; the City of Elkins, Marion County Judges Office, and City of Gentry each conducted selective traffic enforcement programs (MINI-STEP); and the Arkansas Department of Health operated a breath alcohol testing project. All sub-awards were dated October 1, 2024. Federal reimbursement occurs on submitted vouchers covering incurred costs; recipients must retain records for three years following final expenditure report submission.
