About this award

The Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF) received a $2.8 million formula grant award from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) under the State and Community Highway Safety (CFDA 20.600) federal grant program. The four-year grant running from October 1, 2021 through September 30, 2025 will support DOT&PF's delivery of highway safety programs and services aimed at reducing traffic crashes and resulting deaths, injuries, and property damage. As the designated State Highway Safety Office, DOT&PF will administer the funding and coordinate highway safety initiatives with community partners across Alaska. The NHTSA grant aligns with the program's purpose to encourage data-driven efforts by states and localities nationwide to address traffic safety issues and improve roadway safety through education, enforcement, and engineering countermeasures.
