About this award
The Federal Highway Administration awarded the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation $4,535,350 under the Surface Transportation Block Grant Program (CFDA 20.287) on July 20, 2026, to replace the existing bridge carrying State Route 1014 (Overbrook Road) over State Route 309 (Memorial Highway) in Luzerne County, Dallas Township.
The project includes replacement of the single-span concrete-encased steel I-beam bridge with a single-span prestressed concrete adjacent box beam bridge featuring two 11-foot lanes and 8-foot shoulders. Work encompasses roadway approach pavement reconstruction and shoulder widening to 5 feet on both sides, guide rail replacement, erosion and sediment control measures, temporary traffic control, signing and pavement marking, structure removal, and miscellaneous construction. Traffic will be detoured during SR 1014 bridge construction. The SR 309 corridor underneath the new structure will receive improvements including mill and overlay, full-depth paving, and permanent soil nail slope construction using staged construction. Both roadway profiles will be adjusted to meet vertical clearance requirements. The obligation runs through April 11, 2030, with place of performance in Pennsylvania.
