About this award
The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) awarded $447,307 to the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) on May 1, 2025, under the Highway Planning and Construction program (CFDA 20.205) to implement pedestrian safety improvements in the City of Linden, Genesee County, Michigan. The project encompasses installation of 5-foot sidewalks on both sides of Hyatt Lane between Broad Street and the school property crosswalk, a 10-foot concrete pathway on the north side of Stan Eaton Drive between South Bridge Street and Hyatt Elementary School, and associated Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliant features including truncated domes and crosswalk markings at key intersections.
As a formula grant, this award represents part of MDOT's regular federal-aid highway funding allocation for transportation infrastructure development and safety enhancements. The project addresses critical pedestrian connectivity needs for school access while improving traffic safety at multiple intersection points along Stan Eaton Drive and Hyatt Lane. The work exemplifies typical FHWA Highway Planning and Construction program activities, which fund highway and pedestrian infrastructure improvements across the nation through state department of transportation administration.
