About this award
The New York State Department of Transportation received a $1,939,802.90 formula grant award from the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) under the Highway Planning and Construction program (CFDA 20.205) on July 18, 2025. The award funds culvert rehabilitation and replacement projects across multiple municipalities in Putnam and Westchester Counties, New York. Specific deliverables include full replacement of culverts carrying NY 100, US 202, NY 117, the Saw Mill River Parkway, and NY 6N over unnamed streams and Muscoot Reservoir; partial replacement of the culvert carrying US Route 6 over Gregory Pond; and rehabilitation of the culvert carrying I-684 over an unnamed stream.
Associated work encompasses guiderail installation or repair, drainage improvements, pavement work, and slope repairs across seven identified project segments. The project is scheduled for completion by January 31, 2035, allowing for the planning, design, environmental review, and construction phases typical of infrastructure preservation initiatives under the Highway Planning and Construction program. These culvert improvements support the state's transportation infrastructure maintenance objectives while addressing water passage and flood management considerations across the regional highway network.
