Description

Project description
The city of wixom, in partnership with milford township, will construct an extension of the michigan air line trail and the huron valley trail. The new section of nonmotorized pathway will be constructed from wixom road to old plank road; approximately 2.4 miles. On the east, the trail will connect to the existing michigan air line trail and cross wixom road where a hawk beacon will be installed to provide an improved pedestrian activated crossing. The 10-foot wide shared-use path will then head south, through mack park and cross over the active railroad and continue west along the north side of pontiac trail. From wixom road to manistee street, the trail will consist of a two-way cycle track adjacent to the sidewalk. From manistee street to the west, the trail will revert to a 10-foot wide shared use path on the north side of pontiac trail. Once past norton creek, the shared-use path will head north for a short distance and then IT will curve and continue to the west along the former railroad line. The new section of trail will cross over old plank road with the installation of an rrfb and connect to the existing huron valley trail. ; michigan airline trail from wixom road to wixom city border; huron valley trail from milford township border to old plank road
