Description
- Project description
- Safety improvement on SR 3003, washington pike between SR 3006 (boyce road) and alpine drive in south fayette township, allegheny county. The project is to consist of roadway and intersection improvements on S.R. 3003 (washington pike) between SR 3006 (boyce road )and alpine road to address existing traffic congestion and safety issues. Currently washington road is only a single lane in both directions and the boyce road and alpine road are stop sign controlled. Washington pike would be widened to create a cross section of three 10-foot lanes with one-foot shoulders and back-to-back left turn lanes. The southbound left turn lane at SR 3006 (boyce road) would provide 425' of vehicular storage and the northbound left turn lane at alpine road would provide 350' of vehicular storage. SR 3006 (boyce road) at IT's intersection with SR 3003 (washington pike) would also be widened to install a 150 foot westbound left turn lane. New traffic signals would be installed at both intersections which meet signal warrants today.
