The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) awarded a $40,032,000 Clean Water State Revolving Fund (CWSRF) Formula Grant (CFDA 66.458) to the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP). The purpose of this grant is to capitalize NJDEP's CWSRF program, which will provide low-interest financing to numerous sub-recipients for the planning, design, and construction of eligible water quality improvement and protection projects throughout the state. The expected outcomes of this grant are to establish and manage an effective comprehensive CWSRF program, and to maintain a self-sustaining revolving fund to improve and protect water quality and public health for citizens across New Jersey. NJDEP will work with local governments, non-profit organizations, and academic institutions as sub-recipients to execute these water infrastructure initiatives, which may include wastewater treatment facility upgrades, stormwater management systems, nonpoint source pollution control, and emerging contaminant remediation efforts. The grant period runs from July 1, 2024 to June 30, 2031.
