The Department of Health and Human Services Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services awarded the Attorney General of Texas $60.748770 million on October 1, 2025, under the State Medicaid Fraud Control Units program (CFDA 93.775) to investigate and prosecute Medicaid provider fraud as well as patient abuse or neglect in health facilities, board and care facilities, and of Medicaid beneficiaries in non-institutional and other settings across Texas.
The award covers the period October 1, 2025, through September 30, 2026, with funds distributed quarterly. The Attorney General of Texas, as the state's chief legal officer, operates the established Medicaid Fraud Control Unit as a single identifiable entity certified by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and annually re-certified by the Office of Inspector General. Records must be retained for three years in accordance with 2 CFR 200.334.
