About this award
The Department of Health and Human Services Administration for Community Living awarded $41.845 million to the Pennsylvania Department of Aging on October 1, 2025, under the Special Programs for the Aging, Title III, Part B, Grants for Supportive Services and Senior Centers program (CFDA 93.044) for the period through September 30, 2027.
The award funds the administration and delivery of comprehensive community-based supportive services and senior centers to older adults throughout Pennsylvania. The Pennsylvania Department of Aging, as the State Unit on Aging, distributes formula allocations to 30 Area Agencies on Aging and regional service providers that deliver the services at the local level. Sub-recipients administer programs including supportive services, congregate and home-delivered meals, preventive health services, family caregiver support, elder abuse prevention, ombudsman services, and senior employment programs in their respective service areas.
The federal program operates as a statutory formula grant. The Administration on Aging awards funds to State Agencies on Aging based on an established formula; Pennsylvania then approves and distributes funds through its intrastate funding allocation structure to sub-state organizations. States submit plans for two- to four-year periods with annual revisions, and funding decisions are noncompetitive subject to State Plan approval.
Twenty-eight named sub-recipients received allocations under this award, including Columbia/Montour Aging Office, Inc.; Bsst Area Agency on Aging (Bradford County); Clarion Area Agency on Aging, Inc.; County of Armstrong; Huntingdon, Bedford, Fulton Area Agency on Aging; Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Pittsburgh; Southwestern Pennsylvania Area Agency on Aging, Inc.; County of Northampton; Venango County Board of County Commissioners; County of Berks; Lycoming-Clinton Counties Commission for Community Action Inc.; Schuylkill County Courthouse; Mercer County Area Agency on Aging, Inc.; Aging Services, Inc.; County of Carbon; County of Lehigh Community Development Division; Potter County Human Services; Union-Snyder Agency on Aging, Inc.; County of Chester; County of Dauphin; County of Wayne; County of Butler; Adams County Office for Aging; Westmoreland County; Office of Human Services; Greater Erie Community Action Committee; County of Delaware; Mifflin-Juniata Area Agency on Aging, Inc.; County of Centre; Jefferson County Area Agency on Aging; Experience Inc.
