About this award
The Department of Health and Human Services Administration for Community Living awarded Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services $5.38 million under the Older Americans Act Title III Supportive Services formula grant program on October 1, 2025, for the period ending September 30, 2027.
The award supports comprehensive community-based systems of supportive services for older individuals in Nebraska through direct provision of transportation, in-home services, and senior center operations designed to enable seniors to remain independent in their homes and communities. The Administration on Aging awards these funds through statutory formula to state agencies on aging, which then sub-award to area agencies and other designated service providers.
Nebraska DHHS distributed the funding to eight Area Agencies on Aging across the state: Blue Rivers Area Agency On Aging, Northeast Nebraska Area Agency On Aging, Midland Area Agency On Aging, South Central Nebraska Area Agency On Aging, West Central Nebraska Area Agency On Aging, Eastern Nebraska Human Services Agency (Eastern Nebraska Office on Aging), Aging Office of Western Nebraska, and Lincoln City of Public Works & Utilities Division. Each sub-recipient delivers case management, nursing facility preadmission screening, congregate and home-delivered meals, nutrition education, transportation, in-home services, and other supportive services to eligible Nebraskans age 60 and older. The program is noncompetitive and based on approval of the state plan.
