The SSBG enables Michigan to furnish social services tailored to its population's needs, including services that reduce dependency and promote self-sufficiency; protect children and adults from neglect, abuse, and exploitation; and support individuals unable to care for themselves to remain in their homes or access appropriate institutional arrangements.
