Description
Through its implementing agency, the guam behavioral health and wellness center, in coordination with the guam department of corrections, the rsat program aims to reduce drug demand and violence. Its purpose is to continue to develop a comprehensive and multidisciplinary residential treatment program that provides a substance use disorder treatment program for individuals incarcerated in the guam department of corrections facility. The objectives are to enhance the capability of guam's local government to provide residential substance abuse treatment for incarcerated inmates, prepare offenders for their reintegration into the communities from which they came by incorporating reentry planning activities into treatment programs, assist both the offenders and their communities through the reentry process through the delivery of both community-based treatment and other broad-based aftercare services, and provide access to other appropriate treatment services for incarcerated individuals with an alcohol or opioid use disorder. Expected outcomes are to ensure that participants are provided with the necessary tools to maintain their recovery and successfully transition from prison life to community life, establish a therapeutic residential community treatment center, completion of evidence-based treatment programs such as cognitive behavioral therapy, matrix model for substance use treatment and moral reconation therapy, regular program assessments, and peer specialist support to assist with aftercare coordination with community-based organizations prior to program completion.
