Description
The new mexico department of public safety (NMDPS) is requesting federal funding under the FY 2025 residential substance abuse treatment (RSAT) for state prisoners - formula grants program in partnership with the new mexico second judicial district court (SJDC). The goal of this project is to enhance long-term public safety and reduce recidivism by strengthening collaboration with a local young adult court (YAC). Through this initiative, NMDPS will partner with SJDC to provide advanced training and professional development opportunities for YAC team members working directly with participants, expand and promote community treatment services through established partnerships with community-based treatment providers and recovery support services, and support YAC operations with additional staffing and resources necessary to deliver effective services. This funding will expand the SJDC's capacity to provide critical treatment services to high-risk, high-need young adults, ages 18 to 25, who are facing felony-level charges in bernalillo county. Participants will receive services for an average period of 18 to 24 months. This approach directly supports the RSAT requirement for robust, coordinated community aftercare following a period of confinement by ensuring participants have continued access to treatment, recovery support, and case management as they transition back into the community.
