Description
To date, compliance has not been achieved although indiana has addressed portions of title I over the last several years. In mid-2016, the state received its sorna substantial implementation review report from the smart office. The report, responding to compliance materials submitted the previous fall, outlined areas where the state needed additional work. Efforts to address these issues continue to move forward with the awarding of previous support for adam walsh act implementation grant program awards and sorna reallocation funding, though additional progress is needed. This application attempts to move indiana further towards compliance. For this request, indiana has decided to build upon previous sorna reallocation submissions. The areas being addressed are highlighted below but specifically deal with weaknesses found in section IV and X of the sorna compliance checklist and implementation report. The state of indiana, through the indiana criminal justice institute, with the indiana department of correction (IDOC or department) as the lead implementing agency, is making application in the amount of $144,036.00 and a grant period of twenty-four (24) months if indiana is successful in securing these funds, the state will use established procurement procedures to secure staffing to continue criminal history improvement efforts originally started under FY 16 sorna reallocation funding. Efforts include defining position requirements, advertising positions, procuring staff, reviewing and selecting candidates, and working on improving criminal history records.
