Description

In order to address both the opioid crisis and the concurrent rise in stimulant abuse, dcjs plans to use 2022 residential assistance treatment program (RSAT) funds in the form of both new and continuation grants that will focus on three areas: traditional substance use treatment programs that have an aftercare services component for those housed in residential facilities or local and regional jails aftercare programs with a focus on the RE-entry and substance use treatment needs of the newly-released, justice-involved population with a goal of creating a continuity of care from incarceration to community medicated assisted treatment programs that have an aftercare services component for those housed in residential facilities or local and regional jails programs housed within prisons and local and regional jails will be required to work in collaboration with a behavioral health entity for continued services upon RE-entry to include lifestyle changes, behavioral health interventions, and substance use treatments. To be considered for an award, all entities applying will be required to have an aftercare services component. Dcjs will require all RSAT sub grantees to detail and define their plans for a focus on partnerships and innovative collaborations with community stakeholders to ensure that care is provided in a wraparound fashion. Those programs can vary from services that begin for participants while incarcerated to aftercare or as an aftercare entity providing in-reach services prior to release towards aftercare treatment. Either way requires collaboration and programs that provide for robust aftercare focus will be given higher consideration for award.
