EPA Region 10 awarded $215,408 to the Tulalip Tribes of Washington on January 1, 2027, under the Air Pollution Control Program Support formula grant (CFDA 66.001) to implement air quality monitoring and pollution control activities on the Tulalip Reservation through December 31, 2028.
The award funds implementation of the Section 105 program, including monitoring ambient air quality conditions, managing the PurpleAir sensor network, supporting EPA and tribal code enforcement officers in enforcing federal air rules for the reservation, and analysis and planning for attainment and maintenance of National Ambient Air Quality Standards. Activities also encompass control strategy development and implementation, hazardous air pollutant risk reduction, source and ambient air quality modeling, emissions inventory development, regulation development and enforcement, non-Title V permitting and enforcement, public outreach, staff training, and pollution prevention initiatives. The program prioritizes priority pollutants of concern including PM2.5 from woodstoves and fireplaces, PM2.5 from wildfire smoke events, diesel emissions, and microbial contamination.
Work is performed at the Tulalip Reservation in Tulalip, Washington. The recipient coordinates anticipated deliverables and outcomes through collaborations with Tulalip Community Health, Tulalip Housing, Tulalip Health Clinic, Tulalip Elders Program, Tulalip Pharmacy, Tulalip Early Childhood Education, and the Tulalip Climate Program. No sub-awards are included in this assistance agreement.
