About this award

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Region 6 awarded the Oklahoma Department of Labor (ODOL) $110,167 under the Toxic Substances Compliance Monitoring Cooperative Agreements program (CFDA 66.701) for the period October 1, 2025, through September 30, 2026. Under this formula grant, ODOL will conduct asbestos inspections at public and non-public schools throughout Oklahoma in compliance with the Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act (AHERA) and Toxic Substance Control Act (TSCA) requirements. The grant funds on-site inspections, compliance audits at local education agencies (LEAs), technical assistance, consultation services, and outreach activities designed to identify asbestos hazards and ensure regulatory compliance.

The anticipated deliverables include comprehensive asbestos inspections across school campuses, compliance audits at LEAs, and ongoing technical assistance to schools on an as-needed basis. These activities will support the primary outcomes of creating safer school environments, protecting the health of students and school personnel, and improving awareness of asbestos safety measures and compliance obligations. No subawards are included in this assistance agreement; all activities will be executed directly by ODOL.
