This $7,640,000 Drinking Water State Revolving Fund (DWSRF) formula grant award, provided by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), will enable the New Mexico Finance Authority (NMFA) to offer low-interest financing to eligible public water systems for the planning, design, and construction of drinking water improvement projects focused on addressing emerging contaminants, particularly per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS). The grant will also support set-aside activities such as providing technical assistance to small water systems, operator certification, and source water protection initiatives. This funding, awarded from July 1, 2024 to June 30, 2026, is intended to enhance public health protections by improving drinking water infrastructure and increasing the technical, managerial, and financial capacity of public water systems across New Mexico.
