The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Region 4 awarded a $1.58 million Formula Grant to the Georgia Environmental Finance Authority on October 1, 2022 through the Clean Water State Revolving Fund program (CFDA #66.458).
The grant will capitalize Georgia's Clean Water State Revolving Fund to provide low-interest financing through September 30, 2025 for projects that address emerging contaminants in drinking water systems. Emerging contaminants include chemicals in personal care products, pharmaceuticals, and microplastics. The Georgia Environmental Finance Authority will administer loans to numerous subrecipients for eligible costs. Subawards will also support technical assistance to small systems and state program administration.
It is expected that the grant will help establish and manage an effective Clean Water State Revolving Fund program in Georgia to improve water quality and public health through long-term, sustainable financing for wastewater infrastructure and other management activities.
