The Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality (WDEQ) received a $164,000 Formula Grant award on January 21, 2025 from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) under the Water Quality Management Planning program (CFDA 66.454). This grant funding supports two water quality improvement projects in Wyoming:
-
The Boysen Nutrient Reduction Strategy Phase I Supplemental project by the Lower Wind River Conservation District, which will develop a public report characterizing the watershed, assist with public outreach, and initiate implementation of nonpoint source pollution reduction projects.
-
The Flat Creek USGS Fingerprinting Study by the Teton Conservation District, which will use sediment tracing techniques to determine the sources of sediment pollution in the Flat Creek watershed to help prioritize future sediment reduction efforts.
The grant activities are intended to improve impaired waters and protect unimpaired waters across Wyoming through targeted water quality planning and implementation work.
