The U.S. Telecommunications Training Institute (USTTI) will receive $289,000 under a Cooperative Agreement awarded by the National Telecommunications and Information Administration within the Department of Commerce. The funding will support USTTI's recruitment and leadership of a youth delegation to the Generation Connect Global Youth Summit at the International Telecommunication Union's World Telecommunications Development Conference in Kigali, Rwanda from June 2-4, 2022. USTTI will assemble a diverse delegation of individuals aged 19-29 from the United States and around the world engaged in digital policy issues to actively participate in the Summit and impact ongoing discussions on aligning an ITU Youth Strategy with the United Nations Youth Strategy vision and objectives. No sub-awards are planned under the Special Projects program of the Department of Commerce which supports various organizations through non-competitive grants promoting new sources of advanced telecommunications.
