Description

The people who live in the SAN juan chama watershed region are diverse, with many connections to the land and water: spiritual, financial, historical, and emotional. The people who live downstream of this region share a reliance on this region for clean water (through reclamations SAN juan-chama transmountain diversion as well as the native flow of the chama river), clean air, and places to recreate and recharge. The SAN juan chama watershed partnership honors the many links that exist between all these people and the land and water of these watersheds, with emphasis on funding and coordinating watershed and forest health improvements that preserve the land and water for both local residents and downstream water users. This project will continue to nurture these relationships and strengthen these bonds, and to perform the watershed and forest health work that will help support the resilience of these watersheds, and the many communities that they support, into the future.
