TO FACILITATE MULTI-DISCIPLINARY SCIENCE AND INTEGRATED INFORMATION PRODUCTS RELATED TO THE RESOURCES OF THE NATIONAL PARK SYSTEM. TO MAINTAIN A COMPREHENSIVE NETWORK COOPERATIVE STUDY UNITS AS WILL PROVIDE FULL GEOGRAPHIC AND TOPICAL COVERAGE FOR RESEARCH, TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE, AND EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITIES RELATED TO THE RESOURCES CONTAINED IN UNITS OF THE NATIONAL PARK SYSTEM AND THEIR LARGER REGIONS.THIS PROJECT PROVIDES SUPPORT FOR STATUTORILY REQUIRED MONITORING OF GOLDEN GATE NATIONAL RECREATION AREA (GOGA) AND MUIR WOODS NATIONAL MONUMENT (MUWO) THREATENED AND ENDANGERED SPECIES AS WELL AS NEEDED MONITORING OF OTHER SENSITIVE SPECIES. IN ADDITION, THIS PROJECT SUPPORTS KEY RECOVERY ACTIONS FOR SENSITIVE SPECIES AND HABITATS. THE INSTITUTE FOR WILDLIFE STUDIES WILL PROVIDE WILDLIFE STAFF WITH CONSIDERABLE EXPERIENCE AND SPECIFIC MONITORING PROTOCOLS. THEY WILL ASSIST WITH MONITORING AND MANAGEMENT OF THE NORTHERN SPOTTED OWL, CALIFORNIA RED-LEGGED FROG, SAN FRANCISCO GARTER SNAKES, WESTERN SNOWY PLOVER AND BANK SWALLOW. THEY WILL ALSO SUPPORT ONGOING PROJECTS TO BENEFIT SENSITIVE WILDLIFE AND HABITATS, INCLUDING RECOVERY ACTIONS FOR THREATENED AND ENDANGERED SPECIES. INFORMATION FROM MONITORING PROGRAMS WILL HELP IN DEVELOPING PROTECTIVE MEASURES, RECOVERY ACTIONS, AND PUBLIC OUTREACH MATERIALS.BENEFICIARIES INCLUDE STATE AND LOCAL GOVERNMENTS, FEDERALLY RECOGNIZED INDIAN TRIBAL GOVERNMENTS, PUBLIC PRIVATE NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS, NONPROFIT INSTITUTIONS OF HIGHER EDUCATION, AND INDIVIDUALS (INCLUDING MEMBERS OF THE GENERAL PUBLIC).
