THE APPALACHIAN TRAIL CONSERVANCY (ATC) WILL PROVIDE ASSISTANCE AND SUPPORT IN MANAGING THE APPALACHIAN NATIONAL SCENIC TRAIL (APPA) HIGH RISK TREE PROGRAM. THE ATC WILL ASSIGN STAFF TO WORK WITH APPA TO COORDINATE, IDENTIFY AND REMOVE HIGH RISK TREES THAT ARE DEEMED TO POSE A HAZARD AND IMPENDING THREAT TO VISITORS AND PARK OWNED FACILITY TARGETS SUCH AS SHELTERS, OVERNIGHT SITES, PARKING AREAS, BATHROOMS, BUILDINGS, PARK ADJACENT PROPERTIES, ETC., TO ENSURE CONTINUED VISITOR ACCESS AND PUBLIC SAFETY, AND TO PREVENT THESE TASKS FROM BEING ADDED TO THE PARKS DEFERRED MAINTENANCE BACKLOG.
