THIS PROJECT ENGAGES STUDENTS GRADES 7-12 TO LEARN ABOUT U.S. HISTORY THROUGH THE RESEARCH OF STORIES, THEMES, RESEARCH, OBJECTS, DOCUMENTS AND PLACES PRESERVED AND PROTECTED BY THE NATIONAL PARK SERVICE. FUNDING PROVIDES SPECIAL AWARDS AND PRIZES TO STUDENT PARTICIPANTS IN THE ANNUAL NATIONAL HISTORY DAY PROJECT COMPETITION AS WELL AS PROVIDES FUNDING FOR PRODUCTION AND PUBLICATION OF THE TEACHERS CURRICULUM THEMEBOOK. EACH YEAR OVER 30,000 TEACHERS AND HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF STUDENTS PARTICIPATE IN NATIONAL HISTORY DAY PROJECT RESEARCH AND COMPETITION. NPS SUPPORTS STUDENT AND TEACHER ENGAGEMENT IN HISTORICAL RESEARCH PROJECTS.
