Description

Parks need updated information and data to understand future climate change effects and find ways to inform management to promote climate resilience in the parks. We will work with parks and (1) update models for all 24 NCR ecosystems to include future climate models to 2060 using AR6 future scenarios and pathways into climate change vulnerability assessments, which is the underpinnings of nlbs and resilience indices, (2) document presence and occurrence of at-risk species in each park, (3) document species-habitat relationships for rsgcns within the parks and nlbs with the occurrences of the rsgcn, and (4) communicate results and implement trainings. This will allow parks to accurately prioritize ecosystem adaptation actions. Park adaptive and resilience ecosystem management will ensure that forest restoration, pest, nonnative invasives, and wildfire risk reduction treatments address and support climate-smart resource stewardship.
