The New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH) received a $1,339,555 Cooperative Agreement award under the CDC's Public Health Emergency Response program (CFDA 93.354) on January 17, 2025. The funding supports DOHMH's efforts to enhance public health preparedness and emergency response capabilities in New York City. Key activities include: 1) Activating and managing emergency operations, 2) Conducting timely epidemiological investigation and implementing control measures, 3) Communicating risk and essential information to partners, and 4) Coordinating response activities with healthcare and other stakeholders. DOHMH will collaborate closely with NYC Emergency Management and leverage a fiscal agent, Public Health Solutions, to efficiently receive, obligate, and expend the preparedness funds. This award will help ensure the NYC public health and healthcare systems can rapidly mobilize and respond to emerging infectious disease outbreaks and other public health emergencies.
