Description

Alaska native rural emerging and RE-emerging infectious disease prevention, screening and intervention program - the alaska tribal health system is a highly organized system that provides care, public health services, education and community networking that has led to tremendous strides in the goal of making alaska native people ?the healthiest people in the world?. Despite these gains, current emerging infectious diseases are having a significant impact on the health and well-being of the alaska native population. These threats include, covid-19, hepatitis C, chronic hepatitis B, HIV, respiratory virus, including respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), influenza, tuberculosis, sexually transmissible infections and invasive viral infections, including haemophilus influenza (H.flu) and streptococcus pneumonia. The purpose of this project is to bring the tools to recognize, diagnose, treat and prevent emerging infectious diseases to rural alaska native communities, including HCV, HIV, covid-19, TB, STD and other invasive viruses. Project staff will develop tools specifically for ancillary healthcare workers to achieve this goal. Using the alaska native tribal health consortium's robust data analytic system, project staff will document progress in reducing infectious rates, morbidity and mortality for infectious diseases and identify novel emerging infectious threats early.
