Description

Adhs proposes to implement the three (3) required surveillance strategies (1-3); four (4) required prevention strategies (6-9); and two (2) optional surveillance strategies (4-5). The nine (9) defined strategies within the notice of funding opportunity (nofo) will support adhs' ability to build upon the work, expertise and lessons learned from the current CDC OD2A cooperative agreement; and strategically implement the state of arizona's opioid plan, arizona health improvement plan: mental well being action plan, annual overdose fatality review report recommendation, annual overdose surveillance report, and our statewide opioid advisory group's recommendations. Adhs seeks to meet the following outcomes: increase the ability to track and prevent nonfatal and fatal overdoses; identify emerging threats; reduce morbidity and mortality of overdoses; decrease the GAP in access to care and services in population(s) that have the greatest risk of overdose; decrease stigma related to substance use and overdose; and increase retention and access to treatment services. Adhs' will utilize the data to action framework, engage and establish statewide partnership; and identify actions to address health inequities in the strategies and activities proposed. Adhs proposes to have a statewide reach, and will adjust its work plan based on successful applications in arizona for the overdose data to action: limiting overdose through collaborative actions in localities (OD2A: local) notice of funding opportunity nofo.
