Description

Core state injury prevention program montana (core sipp MT) - through this funding opportunity, the montana injury prevention program of montana dphhs will reduce the burden of the stated injury mechanisms through increased knowledge and utilization of emerging data sources and increased integration with multi-sectoral partners to enact evidence-based, sustainable public health actions. We will conduct assessment to ensure a better understanding of risk and protective factors around injury for our disproportionally affected communities and ensure appropriate quality improvement practices are in place to assess our ongoing public health actions for injury prevention. The project includes the following activities:-increasing capacity around injury prevention data and surveillance to better understand disproportionally affected populations and shared risk and protective factors around aces, tbis, transportation safety and firearm suicide. -expanding on existing collaborations and establishing new partnerships with multi-sectoral stakeholder groups to present the data and surveillance and create plans for evidence-based public health action around the injury mechanism areas. -conduct ongoing evaluation and assessment of strategies to ensure effectiveness and utilize toolkits put out by the CDC and others to maximize the benefit to our state. In the short-term, through this funding we are hoping to accomplish increased knowledge and utilization of emerging data sources, adoption of best practices of surveillance and robust data/surveillance, and increased understanding of injury among disproportionally affected populations. We will increase stakeholder inclusion among multi-sectoral partners with shared commitment to injury prevention. We will also have a better state-wide understanding of shared risk and protective factors across injury prevention and evidence-informed strategies to address these needs. In the long-term, we will reduce injury morbidity and mortality, reduce risk factors, and increase identifi ED protective factors for the stated injury mechanisms.
