About this award

This $3,776,891 Cooperative Agreement, awarded by the National Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) under the Farm and Ranch Lands Protection Program (CFDA 10.913), will enable the American Farmland Trust (AFT) to support practitioners working to save agricultural land, expand the ACEP-ALE online resources, and address critical NRCS priorities.

Specifically, AFT will provide technical assistance, education, and planning support for conservation practices, facilitate peer-to-peer learning among farmers, conduct research applying data science and AI in agriculture, develop curricula and training programs for agricultural professionals, and create legal and financial resources to support farmland protection and transfer. This will be accomplished through collaborative efforts with universities, state agencies, tribes, and other non-profits on demonstration projects spanning agricultural planning, soil health, climate-smart commodities, farmland access and transition.
