Strengthening vaccine-preventable disease prevention and response - immunization programs remain one of the most important public health initiatives in the world
Maryland has historically maintained high vaccine coverage rates throughout the state but seeks to improve current immunization efforts. This project will continue to support the 317 immunization and vaccines for children (VFC) program in order to prevent vaccine preventable diseases by providing vaccines to VFC eligible children. In addition, this project will support the surveillance and control of vaccine preventable diseases, case manage perinatal hepatitis b cases, improve and maintain the immunization information system (immunet), maintain vaccine supply as a safety net for uninsured adults, provide necessary education and promotion of vaccination to maryland populations, and delineate emergency response plans to small scale and large scale VPD outbreaks or other public health emergencies.
