Description
Migrate from the data assimilation research testbed (DART) to joint effort for data assimilation integration (JEDI) software, which will be the backbone of future operational convective-scale DA systems. Problem/opportunity statement: a reliable model core for the UFS framework that meets the next-generation capabilities for improved short-term convective weather forecasts is needed. The proposed system will utilize mpass horizontally variable-resolution mesh capability and the ability to produce predictions of high-impact convective weather over multiple, disparate geographic regions with one model execution.
