Description

Minnesota infrastructure capacity-building project description the national oceanic and atmospheric administration (NOAA) is providing $900,000 in federal funding to the state of minnesota through the bipartisan infrastructure law. This funding will build the capacity of the states federally-approved coastal management program within the minnesota department of natural resources to plan for and implement habitat restoration and conservation projects proposed through funding opportunities connected to the bipartisan infrastructure law. Specifically, the minnesota coastal zone management program will focus on identifying priorities for municipal land conservation and fish barrier removal, assist with watershed planning through the acquisition of high-resolution ccap (coastal change analysis program) data for the entire coastal area, and provide direct support to the minnesota land trust and the board of soil and water resources to increase their staff capacity for restoration planning. The coastal program will also passthrough funding to local partners so they can obtain additional engineering assistance on habitat restoration projects.
