The Skagit River System Cooperative (SRSC), a tribal government and American Indian-owned organization, received a $656,000 Cooperative Agreement award from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) under the Habitat Conservation Federal Grant Program (CFDA 11.463). The award will support SRSC's efforts to restore streamside habitat, upgrade a native plant nursery, and build the capacity of the Swinomish Indian Tribal Community and the Sauk-Suiattle Indian Tribe to identify and plan future restoration work in the Skagit River watershed. This project aims to support the recovery of salmon and other fish species in the Skagit River. The award has a performance period from January 1, 2025 to December 31, 2028.
