About this award
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) is providing $399,963 in federal funding to the New Hampshire Fish & Game Department through the Office for Coastal Management (CFDA 11.473) program. This 5-year Cooperative Agreement award, effective May 1, 2024, will support the Great Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve (NERR) in implementing projects to increase the climate resilience of coastal communities within New Hampshire's coastal counties.
Specifically, the funding will support on-the-ground habitat conservation initiatives, including the removal of invasive species, promotion of riparian buffers, and planting of natural shorelines. The Great Bay NERR will also coordinate with the Saltmarsh Task Force to develop monitoring protocols, field plans, and restoration strategies. Additionally, the funds will be used to assess potential restoration sites, conduct pre- and post-project monitoring, and provide technical support to partners and communities for enhancing resilience in both natural and built environments.
