About this award
The Gulf of Maine Research Institute (GMRI), in partnership with MassChallenge and the Roux Institute of Northeastern University, will launch the OceanVista Accelerator program under a $500,000 Cooperative Agreement award from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's (NOAA) Integrated Ocean Observing System (IOOS) program. The OceanVista Accelerator will leverage the Gulf of Maine's maritime economy, regional knowledge, and infrastructure to support innovative, data-driven solutions for seafood production and supply chain, coastal resilience and infrastructure, renewable energy, shipping, risk management, and financial markets. The accelerator will focus on tools that respond to a changing ocean climate in near real-time, with an emphasis on early detection, forecasting, and predictive modeling to enhance risk management, operational decision-making, and climate resilience. This 20-month project, running from March 2024 to November 2024, aligns with IOOS program objectives to advance ocean observing technologies, data management, and innovative solutions for marine environments.
