Description

Among other activities, cerf supports two student-related deija programs. Rising tides (toward an inclusive, diverse, and enriched society) supports students from backgrounds underrepresented in cerf disciplines with the goal of motivating them to pursue careers in coastal and estuarine science and management. Rising tides is a 16-month program consisting of three in-person experiences interspersed with virtual activities; IT funds students to attend a cerf conference, regional affiliate society meeting, and restore america's estuaries summit, and provides virtual and in-person networking and professional development. A key element is mentorship in "pods" consisting of four students, one near-peer mentor, and one professional mentor. This proposal would support two mentoring pods in 2023
