Description

These activities will support the development of nature-based solutions to improve flooding issues within north port ST. JOE, a predominantly african american community within the city. The north port ST. JOE neighborhood was built on top of a filled creek channel and its floodplain is now subject to rainfall flooding and land subsidence. The hydrologic and hydraulic study will improve the understanding of how local waterbodies interact hydraulically. Project partners will use the study results to design solutions to address the stormwater flooding issues and future storm surge threats.
