THE PROJECT AREA IS CONSIDERED TO BE THE MOST IMPORTANT REMAINING AREA FOR NATURAL PRODUCTION OF UPPER WILLAMETTE RIVER SPRING CHINOOK IN THE WILLAMETTE BASIN. A SIGNIFICANT FIRE IN THE AREA IN 2020 AND PAST LAND USE PRACTICES HAVE SEVERELY IMPAIRED THE ECOSYSTEM.
