Description

Scout is a game-changing new tracking tool for whale entanglement response that harnesses next-generation technology and cutting-edge design to improve outcomes for response teams, whales, and ocean health. Scout incorporates major advances in hardware and software technology in the fully redesigned tracking tool, resulting in many improvements. This tool will (1) better support entanglement response teams in relocating whales more quickly through improved data access, (2) reduce the risk of exacerbating serious injury and mortality to whales through its reduced drag and design, and (3) reduce the safety risk of responders deploying the tag.
