About this award

The Oregon State University will continue to build capacity within the Sea Grant network through a $150,000 cooperative agreement awarded by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration under the Sea Grant Support program (CFDA 11.417). The primary objective is to enhance knowledge and skills needed to maximize effectiveness through the Sea Grant Academy, a national training program incorporating elements of professional development. Activities include designing a two-week training agenda covering topics such as appreciative inquiry and Myers-Briggs assessments, conducting the trainings, and performing follow-up assessments to improve future sessions. The relationships established will also help improve communication and collaboration across the Sea Grant network. The period of performance is from October 1, 2022 to September 30, 2024.

Description

The proposed training will enhance knowledge and skills needed to maximize the effectiveness of sea grants interactions with our various stakeholders through extension, education, communications and our funded research. In addition, the relationships established during the academy will help improve communication and collaboration across the sea grant network. Activities to be performed: we accomplish these goals by designing a two-week agenda that incorporates important elements of professional training, conducting the trainings, performing follow-up assessments to ascertain areas of improvement, and making appropriate adjustments. Previous adjustments based on participant input this year include the incorporation of appreciative inquiry as a topic, as well as expanding the work on the myers-briggs assessment. E
