Description

Activities
Develop an integrated seasonal size-structured model with tagging sub-model for the north carolina and virginia stock of spotted seatrout to better account for the effects of cold stun events on the population dynamics. The project involves conducting simulation-estimation experiments to evaluate the reliability of model estimates assuming the model is correct (i.e., self-test), to evaluate the ability to estimate natural mortality due to cold stuns, and to quantify the performance of different ways to incorporate process errors.
Expected outcomes
Methods and a framework for spotted seatrout that is able to utilize tagging data through integrating a tagging sub-model and estimate time-varying natural mortality rates. The simulation study will be cond
