About this award

The Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution received a $300,009 cooperative agreement award from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration under the Sea Grant Support federal grant program (CFDA 11.417) for the period of August 1, 2021 through July 31, 2023. The award will support two partnership-based programs to increase consumer awareness and acceptance of seafood products in Massachusetts following impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on the seafood industry. The first program, delivered in partnership with the Massachusetts Division of Marine Fisheries, will utilize a pitch competition soliciting proposals to promote Massachusetts seafood. The second program will create an online and physical exhibit with the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe highlighting the environmental, health, cultural and economic benefits of local shellfish farming and consumption. A sub-award of $TBD will support the Division of Marine Fisheries in implementing selected proposals from the seafood promotion pitch competition.
