The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) awarded a $2,000,000 Cooperative Agreement under the Older Adults Home Modification Grant Program (CFDA 14.921) to Mid Michigan Community Action Agency, Inc. to provide home modification services to enable low-income elderly homeowners to remain in their residences.
Through this grant, Mid Michigan Community Action Agency, Inc. will deliver comprehensive programs that make safety and functional home modifications, repairs, and renovations to meet the needs of approximately 1,900 low-income elderly homeowners. The home modifications will include the installation of grab bars, railings, lever-handled fixtures, adaptive equipment, and other low-cost, high-impact interventions to reduce fall risk, improve accessibility, and optimize the home environment to enhance older adults' functional abilities and independence. The program relies on the expertise of licensed occupational therapists to ensure the modifications address each client's specific goals and needs.
